Afterschool Club Rules & Guidelines

2009/2010 School Year

Port City Gymnastics provides transportation to the “After School Club at Port City Gymnastics”.  Our program is offered to children at the following elementary schools; Murrayville, Eaton, Ogden, Blair, Wrightsville Beach, College Park, and all 3 Topsail schools.  Activities include: two 1-hour gymnastics classes per week, free play in the gym, board games and crafts, as well as homework and snack time.  WE ARE NOT A DAYCARE!  We help develop happy, healthy children.  Homework and games are essential to our program, but your child will also get gymnastics instruction and lots of physical exercise.  They will practice discipline, manners and respect for teachers, parents and other students, as well as themselves.  They will gain self-esteem and confidence through our program.  Your child’s positive attitude will be encouraged and will carry over into school work and all other activities.  Tutoring programs are also available at the front desk.   Pick-up by 6:00 PM, LATE FEES APPLY.

Allisen, Trish, Joe and the Afterschool Club Team want to welcome you to Port City Gymnastics Afterschool Club.  Most of us are parents and understand the frustration that sometimes comes with afterschool care.  Being onsite owners, we take pride in our programs and participate in them daily, whether it be picking up the children or helping with homework.  If at anytime you feel there is a problem, please come see us…we know we can resolve any issues in a fair and balanced manner.  We want you to know that your child’s safety and wellbeing is our utmost concern.  We schedule our staff around the number of children enrolled.  We are somewhat flexible; however, there is a balance necessary to ensure your child gets the care that you expect.  With that in mind, there are a few rules that must be followed.

Rates

Afterschool Care Ends at 6:00PM.  We understand the traffic in Wilmington, and at times you will be late….we will allow you the first 10 minutes.  After 6:10 there will be a late charge of $10.00 per 15 minutes.   There are always special situations, call us - we are very understanding.

Daily Pick-ups

When you ask PCG to pick-up your child, we are obligated to make sure that we do that.  However, when we get to the school and your child is not there, we have to verify that information.  This puts a strain on the system, for the school as well as PCG.  We cannot return to the gym or continue on our route to the next school until we have verified your child’s whereabouts.  That takes up time and we are on a tight schedule.  If your child is scheduled to be picked-up by PCG and he/she is out of school or has been picked up early from school for any reason, YOU MUST NOTIFY PCG in a timely manner.  We will assess a $10.00 charge to your account for each incident of non-notification.

Prorated Bills

You must give at least one week’s notice if your child will not need to be picked up for ASC due to vacation or alternate care in order to be prorated for that time missed.  Please fill out the Notice of Absence form at the front desk.

Gymnastics Class

Every child is required to participate in the two gymnastics classes each week.  It’s good for their health and wellbeing.  If you do not want your child to participate or if they are sick/injured and cannot participate, you are required to provide us with proper notice.  Any children not participating in the gymnastics classes will be required to do homework or read a book.

Snacks

We provide snacks each and every day.  If your child wants to purchase something different than what we serve, they are free to do so.  We do not provide lunches.  If your child is here for early release or other non-school days, you must pack a lunch.

Sickness

Please do not send your child to PCG with a fever.  If your child is sick and possibly contagious, please be considerate and allow your child to stay home or make other arrangements for their care.

Attire

Make sure you dress your child for the weather and the gym - shorts for the gym, coats for the cold days.
